Myocardial Ultrastructure in Ischemia

Abstract
Ischemic (or coronary) heart disease has focussed research on the pathophysiology of ischemia in i attempt to elucidate the various mechanisms behind the injury. Reversible injury is the most in-resting because cardiac tissue could be recovered by therapeutic measures such as delay of occur nce of myocardial necrosis and by reperfusion by thrombolysis or angioplasty. The ultrastructural aerations in organelles such as mitochondria, sarcolemma (myocardial cell membrane), sarcomere id nucleus, extracellular space and in microvessels can be used to determine the severity of injury experiments as well as in clinical field and can give detailed information about the actual injury

VTewrsible injury due to ischemia. .
